The Only Rule in Coffee: If You Like It, You’re Doing It Right

The Only Rule in Coffee: If You Like It, You’re Doing It Right

Welcome to the Exploration Coffee Company Journal!

Let’s get one thing out of the way right up front: there is no “wrong” way to drink coffee.

Black, loaded with cream and sugar, iced in the dead of winter, hot on a summer afternoon—whatever makes you happy, that’s the right way.

I’ve watched people freeze at a coffee counter, worried they’ll order something “basic” or “wrong.” I’ve seen folks pretend to love a super-bright natural-process Ethiopian when they secretly just want a smooth, chocolatey cup with a splash of milk. And honestly? I’ve been that person too.

The truth is, coffee isn’t a test. It’s not fine wine with a panel of judges waiting to dock points if you add oat milk to a single-origin pour-over. It’s a daily ritual, a moment of comfort, a little spark of joy.

Here at Exploration Coffee Company, I roast small batches of incredible beans from around the world—not so you can impress anyone, but so you can discover flavors you genuinely love. Some days that might be the bright, juicy notes of a light-roasted single origin. Other days it might be a dark, cozy blend with cream and two sugars. Both are perfect.

Even the “coffee snobs” (and I love you too) started somewhere—usually with something sweet and simple before they chased 94-point Geshas. No judgment here. We’re all just trying to make our mornings (or afternoons, or late nights) a little better.

So here’s the only rule I have:

If you like it, you’re doing it right.

Drink it hot, drink it cold, drink it with cinnamon or caramel or nothing at all. I’m just happy you’re here exploring with me.

Now tell me in the comments: How do YOU take your coffee? No rules, no apologies—just the way you love it.

Welcome to the journey.
